Shingletown (pop. 2500+) sits at the foothills of Mt. Lassen; just 30 minutes from the city of Redding (pop. 90,000).
Shingletown has two grocery store/gas stations (Shingletown store and Reeds IGA market), post office, library, bank (Scott Valley), medical center, an elementary and junior high school, newspaper, several restaurants, coffee shop, two fire departments (volunteer and Cal Fire), veterinarian, real estate offices, and a thrift store.
Just 10 minutes west of Shingletown is the “Black Butte” plaza which hosts a wonderful coffee shop: Higher Ground as well as an auto parts/repair shop, a salon, the Cinnamon Bear Bakery and more!
