Dear Neighbors,

Last year we had an issue where there was a septic leak from the Alpine Meadows septic system that drains into Ash Creek and then into our lake. We had our water and soil tested, which all came back as “unremarkable” and significantly below any unsafe limits.

We were also able to learn that after this leak occurred the Alpine Meadows septic system was inspected by the state and issued a violation. To our knowledge the county is working on a plan to have this fixed, but exact details are unknown. With this being said, this is a long standing issue and likely to be an ongoing issue when large storms occur.

With our recent weather it is possible that another septic leak has occurred. We are assessing the best course of action in managing this ongoing situation.

Our current recommendation is to exert caution if you choose to utilize the lake and come into contact with water.
